I’m asked time and time again…How do I stop the brain chatter?

I’m finding that the ‘one size fits all’ solution does not exist! ‘Different strokes for different folks’ as saying goes. I can relate because I have not found just one technique that works for me EVERY time either. I’ll be addressing this topic from several different angles. Today, let’s look at the mind. Years ago there was a woman that was a fitness guru of sorts and she was always screaming, “Stop the insanity!” Do any of you remember?

We all could very well be saying the same thing to ourselves today. Our minds are ‘digging our spiritual graves’ and just like the saying goes…’An idle mind is the devil’s playground’.

The number one question I get is, ‘How do I stop the brain chatter?’. Ironically enough, our minds are idle AND they do not want to shut off at the same time! Envision a merry go round just…going around. Nobody is on it, it just is going on automatic. Our minds are idle in the fact that it is not thinking any NEW thoughts. We’re just re-thinking all of the SAME negative thoughts.

Many of us have had histories where we were taught to think…well…negatively. We are ultimately victims raised by victims. Our parents did the best they could and if they didn’t know how to do something, well you just were not going to learn it from them! How could they teach you something they themselves never learned?
